Manaiakalani Film Festival 2014

This year team 5 went to the Hoyts Cinemas for Manaiakalani Film Festival 2014. We went at 11:30 and the rest of the school went at 9:00 clock because there were not enough seats at the movies. When 11:30 came by 3 buses came to pick us up it was only a gold coin for the bus, each class got a buss each in team 5. I went to take a seat next to Hala my friend on the bus, We talked the whole way there about how excited we were to watch the films from schools.

When we got to Sylvia Park  we got of the bus got in a class line and walked to the Hoyts Cinemas , on our way walking to the Cinemas we saw shops open Dick smith, Factory, Foot Locker and many more. We got to the cinemas and walked in and found our seats I sat next to Jacob and Lee my friends from school, we waited from about 10 mins until the films came on there was another school with us called Somerville special. 10 mins went by the lights turned off the Big screen came on, they welcomed us to the Manaiakalani Film Festival 2014.

First our movie came on the name is it was The Nice boomerang Its about helping being nice to other helping then when they need help movie made by class 3. My Favorite movie was Class 2 from our school, my favorite movie from Somerville special is Sneak Sneaking Sneakers the film was funny. A lot of movies came on we watch all of it. When 2:00 clock came by we clapped at the end of the last movie, we all got up and got in our lines then walked out saying thank you for coming to Somerville special. We got on the Buss at went back to school.

Cricket

Do you like a sport that’s quick , tiring and exciting well I’ve got the sport for you. it’s called cricket. Cricket is a bat and ball game played between 11 players. Each team takes a turn at batting attempting to score runs while the other team is feilding. The two sets of three wooden stumps on the pitch are the wicket the two white lines are the creases. The wooden stumps stand behind the Batter is the batter swings his/hers bat and it touches the wooden stumps then he/her is out.

   

The bowler delivers the ball to the batsman who attempts to hit the ball with his bat away from the fielders so he can run to the other end of the pitch and score a run. Each batmans continues batting until ten batsmen are out , or a specified number of overs of six balls have been bowled, at which point the teams switch roles and the fielding team comes in to bat.    

Cricket was first played in southern England in the 19th century. By the end of the 18th century , it had be developed to be a national sport of England.The game is most popular in  New Zealand ,  Australasia, England, the Indian subcontinent, the West Indies and Southern Africa.

Need: Cricket ball , cricket bat , wicket: stumps , bails , several and protective gear.

The Commonwealth Games are a  sporting event that are every four years. Only    commonwealth countries compete in the event there a 53 countries competing. Each countries select their top athletes to travel to glaze glow scotland. The athletes are representing their countries for them to win. I'm supporting

New Zealand we have 14 gold medals at the moment valerie adams won the shot put she got a gold medals. All our medals together is 43 and England has 58 gold medal altogether they have 174 medals. I hope we win the commonwealth games.

Although there are 53 members of the Commonwealth nations , 71 participate in the commonwealth games , as a number of dependent territories compete under their flag. The four home nations of the United-Kingdom England , New Zealand, scotland , Wales , and North  lreland-also send separate teams.

Only six teams have attended every Commonwealth Games : Australia , canada , England , New Zealand, Scotland , and Wales. Australia has been the highest achieving team for twelve games, England for seven, and Canada for one.

What I did in the holidays

I woke up one morning really excited ready to go Rainbows End with my cousin. It  was very cloudy. I looked up into the sky and I felt a drip of water from the sky went on my face it was spitting as we were hopping into the car all ready to go.

As my mum was driving to my cousin’s house it started to rain. We were disappointed because we couldn’t  go to Rainbows End. All the rides would be closed. Instead we went to countdown and purchased junk all the junk food imaginable. As we were about to purchase junk food my mum received a phone call in the supermarket from my aunt saying she had a baby so we collected all junk food that was in site and rushed to the counter My aunty had a baby and we were gonna go to Rainbows End with them so we went out west to have some lunch at my aunty’s house.

20 mins later we got to my aunty’s house we took the food up stress and said Hi to my cousin’s aunty we put the food in the fridge. I went with my cousin’s to their room to play Black Ops 2 on xbox 360 we played zombies we survived up to round 32 it was fun. after a little while my mum called our names to come get some lunch.
