My answer For my Pickled Thumb anyone

Pickled Thumb Anyone? By Pam Kessler

 WALT - identify the setting and plot as you read.

Looking at the image on the front page, what do you think the story is about? Her holding a thumb and having lunch.

 Referring to the title only, what do you think the story is about? A thumb What was in the jar, what was the liquid in the jar? Water.

 Why do we pickle things in jars? What is the point of it? So it can keep it save or so she does not drop it when she is holding it.

 What did the little girl beg for? She begged so she can hear a story'

  What did the great grandfather do for a living? He was a miner Tell me five facts about a miner, use the story and research your own facts. 1st. A miner is a person who holds a pickaxe and break rocks and dig for them . 2nd. They go under ground. 3rd. They wert paid that much. 4th. If they had an accident they got payed. 5thThey always had a partner for mining.

  Why was grandad desperate? Because He didn’t have money to pay them back for the roof.

 Summarise what has happened in the story so far. They Were going in the mine and made a plan so that they can make more money to pay for the roof.

 Who are the characters in the story that have been introduced to us. Tell me one thing about each character. The little girl wants to hear a story because she likes hearing that story.
